Job Description

Level 3 Engineer

Location: Client’s campus – Pretoria
Duration: 12 months contract – possibility of extension

Purpose:

Provide expert-level technical support by diagnosing and resolving complex escalated issues that Level 1 and 2 supports cannot solve.
Work with Level 1 and 2 support to understand escalated problems and, when necessary, escalate issues to Level 4 support or product development teams.
Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior support engineers.
Full responsibility to support resources with verification by the L3 during the bi-monthly site visit.
Enterprise and Public Sector experience is key

Supported Infrastructure

Pre-requisite skills:

Strong understanding of routing protocol operation, including both interior and exterior routing protocol operation
Implementation of Enterprise LAN networks
Basic understanding of Enterprise routing and wireless connectivity
Basic understanding of Python scripting"
Working knowledge of fundamental terms of computer networking, including LANs, WANs, switching, and routing
Basics of digital interfaces, Public Switched Telephone Networks (PSTNs), and Voice over IP (VoIP)
Fundamental knowledge of converged voice and data networks and Cisco Unified Communications Manager deployment
Knowledge of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) concepts as applied to large scale live network deployments
Strong understanding of enterprise WAN design
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems
Familiarity with Transport Layer Security (TLS) and IP Security (IPsec)
Familiarity with the Cisco IOS® Software Command-Line Interface (CLI) for wired and wireless devices
Familiarity with Cisco AnyConnect® Secure Mobility Client
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems
